- Put onions, chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, and meat in a cooking pot
- Add oil, chickpeas, fava beans, all the spices and 2 liters of water
- Leave on a medium heat for 30 min
- Add rice (or vermicelli) and leave for an extra 10 minutes while stirring continuously
